The two men that went after David Neres were on motorcycles
Winger David Neres arrived at Napoli this summer after a €28.00m move from Portuguese side Benfica where he scored 5 goals and provided 8 assists in 24 Liga Portugal appearances last season. After an overall successful spell at Benfica, where he continued to showcase his technical ability and flair on the wings, Napoli identified Neres as a key target to bolster their attacking options. The transfer adds further depth to Napoli’s wide positions, with Neres expected to bring creativity, pace, and dribbling skills to a club that’s looking for bounce back after a disappointing 2023-24 season.
I would imagine that Napoli manager Antonio Conte loves Neres’ versatility on both wings because he wil fit perfectly into Napoli’s dynamic, attacking style. His experience in European competitions with Ajax and Benfica is also seen as a valuable asset for Napoli’s ambitions in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League. Fans are excited to see how he adapts to Italian football, as Neres looks to make a significant impact and help Napoli continue their recent success.
Neres came in during the 69th minutes of Napoli’s 2-1 win over Parma and provided an assist in their comeback victory where they were down 1-0 late in the match. It’s safe to say that he made his presence felt in his second appearance for Napoli now that he has 2 assists in two matches for the club.
Despite the fact that Neres put in a solid performance, he was attacked after the match after two men, who were on a motorcycle, smashed his car window and robbed him at gunpoint. The good news is that he wasn’t injured.
With this coming weekend being an international break, Neres and Napoli will face off against Cagliari on September 15th at 12pm EST.
Napoli are currently sitting in sixth place in Serie A, one point behind the top clubs in the league. So after just three matches they’re off to a good start.
