Keeping Atalanta’s supporters away didn’t help Napoli
Napoli suffered a tough 3-0 loss at the hands of Atalanta this past weekend with star attacker Ademola Lookman scoring a brace.
What’s really interesting is that Napoli did everything they could to keep Atalanta supporters from attending the match at the Maradona by banning anyone with a Lombardy post code. What’s funny though is that one Atalanta fan from Scotland was able to attend since of course his postal code isn’t from Lombardy.
The Scottish Atalanta fan who’s real name is Steven, posted on Twitter/X that Napoli’s stewards were very nice to him.
I would have to imagine that Steven was very confused when he arrived at the match and headed up to the Atalanta’s supporters section to see that he was all alone. I wonder how long it took him to figure out why in fact he was by himself.
I understand why Napoli did this, but it obviously didn’t help them at all. And let’s be honest, with The Blues heading into this match in first place in Serie A, I don’t understand why they kept the opposing fans away. They should have more confidence in there team to win at home whether the fans from the opposing team are there or not.
Napoli will have an even tougher match this coming Sunday against Inter Milan at the San Siro. If they once again falter they will be knocked out of first place and could fall to as far down the table as third place, if Atalanta defeat Udinese.
