Lorenzo Insigne wouldn’t mind playing for Napoli again
Former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne was born in Naples and started his career at Napoli as a youth player in 2006. The thing that really made Insigne special during his time at Napoli was how he embodied the city’s passion and pride throughout his tenure. Joining Napoli’s academy as a teenager, Insigne made his Serie A debut with the club in 2010.
He was then promoted to the first team in 2010. but was sent out on loan up until 2012. After loan spells at Cavese, Foggia, and Pescara—where Insigne honed his skills under the mentorship of then-coach Zdenek Zeman—Insigne returned to Napoli and quickly established himself as an essential part of the squad.
Insigne is known for his agility, technical ability, and precise finishing, Insigne played primarily as a left winger. Over the years, he developed a reputation for scoring spectacular goals, often cutting inside from the left to unleash powerful shots with his right foot. His flair and creativity endeared him to Napoli fans, who saw him as a local hero and a worthy successor to club legends like Diego Maradona. Insigne’s ability to create opportunities and his consistency made him a focal point of Napoli’s attack.
During his time with Napoli, Insigne won two Coppa Italia titles (2013–14 and 2019–20) and the Supercoppa in 2014. He finished his career in Italy with 96 goals and 74 assists before heading to MLS to play for Toronto FC in 2022.
Insigne was asked this week if he would come back and play for Napoli if current manage Antonio Conte wanted him. Of course he said yes.
“If Conte called me I’d go back to Napoli. You can’t say no,” Insigne told Radio Kiss Kiss, via Italian Football TV.
Insigne is still only 33 years-old and could probably help out Napoli quite a bit, not as a starter, but coming off of the bench. But I got a feeling that Conte isn’t interested in. bringing him back to Naples.
Comment below and give us your thoughts on whether Conte and Napoli should bring back Insigne.
