Napoli still trying to figure out how to unload Osimhen
Despite the fact that Napoli shipped off star striker Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray on a loan move for the 2024-25 season, they still need to sell him at some point over the next several months.
Ideally the Blues would sell Osimhen during the upcoming winter transfer window, but that likely won’t happen. There are some rumors that they could swap him for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, who left Serie A side Bologna this past summer for the Red Devils. The problem is that his move to England has not been a positive one so far this season.
Il Mattino is reporting (via Eurosport) that Napoli would much rather sell Osimhen even if that means they have to wait until next summer. They would much rather get the full amount of money in exchange for him, which would be around 75-80 million euros, rather than get another player in return plus some cash.
I don’t blame Napoli due to the fact that they don’t have the cash flow of a club like United and need to make all the money they can from selling their top talent. In this case they’re literally banking on getting Osimhen’s full value.
It also doesn’t help Napoli’s financial situation that they’re not playing any European football this season, so they can’t count on that money coming in.
